Recently released from prison on August 5 after serving part of a six-month sentence that began on April 12 for his involvement in the abuse of the Nigerian currency, the naira, Bobrisky is now facing new allegations.
The situation escalated when social media influencer Martin Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, shared an alleged audio recording in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed to have bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with ₦15 million to have charges against him dropped. Bobrisky, a prominent transgender figure on social media, has denied these claims, labeling the audio “fake” and insisting he did not pay any bribes, stating, “I served my term in prison.”
In response to the bribery allegations, the EFCC has summoned both Bobrisky and Otse for questioning, with the agency’s chairman, Ola Olukoyede, ordering a thorough investigation. Additionally, the Nigerian government has suspended two officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service implicated in the scandal.
Rapper Falz has also supported parts of Otse’s claims in a letter, alleging that Bobrisky had asked him for ₦3 million to secure preferential treatment in prison, a request he declined. Amid these legal troubles, Bobrisky has revealed that he is grappling with suicidal thoughts but clarified that he seeks understanding, not sympathy, during this challenging period.
In response to these events, Portable took to Instagram, advising Bobrisky to reject suicidal thoughts and instead seek repentance and forgiveness from God to foster positive change in his life. He stated, “Bobrisky, life is risky. God does not want sinners to die. Repentance is essential. If you die, you will go to hell. Ask God to forgive you.”
Portable emphasized, “All Bobrisky needs is to ask God for forgiveness of his sins. If he repents, he will enjoy life, but if he does not, he will face dire consequences.”
