Reps Call Emergency Plenary 24 Hours Before Nationwide Hardship Protest

The memo, signed by Clerk Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, states: “As directed by Rt. Hon. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, there will be a plenary sitting on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Members are requested to make necessary arrangements to attend, as significant matters will be discussed. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this interruption of the annual recess and appreciate your dedication and understanding.”

The House had previously suspended plenary for its annual recess, which was set to resume on September 17.

In related news, Nigerian Senate President Godswill Akpabio has also called an emergency session of the Senate in preparation for the nationwide protest scheduled from August 1 to 10. According to Naija News, the Senate’s emergency session will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

An internal memo from the Senate Clerk, Chinedu Francis Akubueze, has been issued, instructing senators to attend the session where critical national issues will be addressed.
