Expressing dissatisfaction with the handling of the case, Kingsley asserted that the justices responsible for the removal of Plateau lawmakers should face reprimand. He emphasized that such punitive measures are necessary to deter other judges from following a similar path in the future.

In November 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja ousted all 16 members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Plateau State House of Assembly based on pre-election issues, including alleged disobedience of a court order and a perceived lack of political structure. Prior to this, the appeal court had also removed four PDP members from the House of Representatives and two senators from the state.

On a positive note, Chinda congratulated opposition parties on a recent Supreme Court judgment that restored and affirmed the victories of opposition governors. Notable among these governors are Dr. Alex Otti of Abia, Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Sen. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Alhaji Abba Yusuf of Kano State, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, and Mr. Lawal Daudu of Zamfara State.

Chinda commended the Supreme Court Justices for safeguarding the integrity of the votes cast by the citizens of these states, highlighting that these decisions have revitalized the confidence of Nigerians in the judiciary as the last resort for the common man.

Referring to the decisions of the Court of Appeal regarding State Houses of Assembly and National Assembly elections in Plateau, which led to the removal of several PDP legislators on questionable grounds, Chinda stressed the need to scrutinize these judgments. While acknowledging that these decisions cannot be appealed due to the serious miscarriage of justice, he urged that the justices responsible for such rulings be reprimanded as a deterrent for future occurrences.
