Governor Otti had suspended Dr. Okoronkwo on June 11, 2024, following allegations of financial misconduct. Subsequently, a committee was set up to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations.

Acknowledging Dr. Okoronkwo’s contributions to the state’s health sector, Governor Otti expressed appreciation for her efforts in enhancing service delivery over the past year.

According to Mr. Njoku’s statement, “Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo, the suspended Abia State Commissioner for Health, has tendered her resignation letter to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State. The Governor has accepted her resignation, commending Dr. Okoronkwo for her service to our state and her achievements in improving the Health Sector’s service delivery during her tenure. He wished her success in her future endeavors.”

Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to transforming Abia State, affirming his mandate to appoint, suspend, or dismiss appointees as necessary to fulfill his promises to the people of Abia.

“The Governor reaffirmed his dedication to the transformation of Abia State and reminded citizens that they entrusted him with the mandate to assemble his team, including the authority to appoint, suspend, or dismiss appointees, or restructure his cabinet whenever required, all aimed at delivering on his commitments to the people,” the statement concluded.
