The Nigerian Army, in a statement released on August 7, 2023, illuminated the remarkable feats accomplished by these troops, highlighting their commitment to restoring safety and security in the Northwestern region. Among these victories, the apprehension of a suspected bandit operating in Sokoto’s Gigane District stands out, demonstrating a resolute step towards quelling terror.

A recent episode unfolded on the Tsafe-Gusau highway in Zamfara State, where armed bandits had kidnapped innocent civilians. Rapid response by Sector 1 OPHD forces thwarted the bandits’ intentions. With unwavering resolve and tactical prowess, the troops engaged in a gunfight, compelling the bandits to retreat, leaving their victims unharmed and liberated.

In the neighboring Kebbi State, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garin Hausawa exhibited extraordinary dedication. Upon receiving information about the presence of armed bandits in Madobiya village, the troops took decisive action, prompting the criminals to abandon their hostages and flee. The result was the triumphant rescue of three kidnapped victims, whose safe return brought solace to their families.

Sokoto State also bore witness to the troops’ valorous efforts. During a routine patrol, Special Forces engaged armed bandits in Gundumi Village, resulting in the neutralization of one bandit and the dispersal of others. This engagement not only underscored the troops’ mettle but also yielded a cache of arms, including an AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

Undeterred by the perilousness of their missions, the troops of Sector 3 in Sokoto State boldly confronted bandits who had infiltrated Manu Village.
