His statement, “Those who want to burn the country down under any pretext will encounter the strongest resistance they’ve ever faced. This resistance won’t come from security forces but from the silent majority who elected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the initial four-year term. We are prepared,” arrives at a time when some Nigerians are organizing nationwide protests against economic hardships and government policies such as the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira.

Dada’s remarks have prompted diverse reactions, with some internet users sharing past statements from the media aide advocating for protests during the Jonathan administration.

In response to the criticisms of his earlier statement, the aide clarified that he did not discourage protests, but emphasized that actions leading to the destruction of the country would be met with resistance.

He further emphasized that his past social media posts should serve as a lesson that real change comes through voting, not through protests or grandstanding online.

Dada reaffirmed, “Nowhere in my statement did I discourage protests. However, those who set the narrative dictated your thoughts, causing you to abandon rationality. Protests are every citizen’s fundamental right. Destroying and setting fire to your country is not patriotism, and we will resist it!”
