Speaking at the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday, Abure emphasized the LP’s readiness for reconciliation and urged discontented members to set aside their grievances.

While acknowledging that the Nigerian Constitution grants citizens the right to freedom of association, Abure reminded members that the Labour Party constitution strictly forbids dual party membership.

“Both the party’s constitution and Nigeria’s constitution make it clear — you can’t belong to two political parties at the same time,” he said.

He further noted:

“We are aware of members flirting with rival parties. When the time is right, the party’s organs will make a decision on their fate.”

Abure extended an olive branch:

“Our doors remain open. Let them drop their grievances and return. If they come back and apologise, we’re ready to forgive — because in our view, there’s no victor and no vanquished.”

Abure also portrayed himself as a unifying figure who has transformed the Labour Party into a formidable political force across the country.
