Turaki described the meeting as an important moment for reflection and a reaffirmation of the collective responsibility to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy.
In a statement shared on his X page, he noted that the engagement brought together prominent political figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, alongside other ADC leaders.
He explained that discussions focused on the shared challenges facing opposition parties across the country.
According to Turaki, the visit underscored a growing awareness among opposition leaders about the need for unity in the face of increasing political pressure.
The PDP delegation included Seyi Makinde, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees Adolphus Wabara, and founding member and former Minister of Information Jerry Gana.
He noted that the discussions were open and centred on the political challenges confronting opposition parties, which he said reflect a broader threat to democratic diversity in Nigeria.
Turaki added that both parties expressed a shared commitment to defending democratic principles and ensuring that dissenting voices continue to have space in the political system.
He further described the visit as a demonstration of collective responsibility among political actors to prioritise national interest, uphold democratic values, and work towards a more inclusive political future.
According to him, the meeting also highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong and vibrant opposition as a key pillar of Nigeria’s democracy.
