In a press conference held in Port Harcourt on Monday, the state Commissioner for Information, Joseph Johnson, affirmed that Governor Fubara remains committed to upholding the court’s decision, even though it poses challenges to his administration. This statement comes amid growing tensions between the executive and legislative branches of government.

On Monday, the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, accused Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of serious misconduct. The lawmakers, aligned with Fubara’s estranged political ally and former governor, Nyesom Wike, have formally submitted a notice of the allegations to both the Governor and his deputy.

Despite the ongoing political crisis, Governor Fubara has reaffirmed his position on implementing the Supreme Court ruling, which solidified the authority of the state government in key governance issues.
