Despite the gravity of the situation, NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, has yet to issue any official statement on the matter. Efforts by Daily Trust to obtain a response from NGF’s Director-General, Lateef Shittu, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered calls nor replied to messages seeking his comments.

Meanwhile, governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have vowed to challenge the suspension in court. In his reaction, Governor Fubara stated that he would handle the situation with “wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process.”

Bauchi State Governor and PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Bala Mohammed, condemned Tinubu’s decision, urging the president to acknowledge his error and reverse the suspension. The forum accused Tinubu of siding with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, whom they blamed for fueling the political crisis in Rivers State.

Expressing solidarity with Fubara and the people of Rivers State, the PDP governors emphasized that Tinubu’s action was “unconstitutional, biased, and a threat to democracy.” They warned that the emergency rule would only escalate tensions, worsen security concerns, and disrupt economic stability.

Aligning with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the PDP governors called for a judicial review of Section 305(3) of the Constitution, rejecting the move as authoritarian. They urged Tinubu to reconsider and reverse his decision to prevent further damage to national unity and governance.
