The political turmoil in Rivers State had been characterized by a protracted feud between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, often referred to as the political godfather, and his godson, Sim Fubara. The conflict gained widespread attention due to dramatic events, including the defection of twenty-seven PDP Rivers assembly members, the burning of the hallowed chamber, and the subsequent demolition of the Rivers State assembly.
The resolution of the crisis came after President Tinubu’s intervention, leading to an agreement signed by Sim Fubara. In a recent video circulating on the internet, elders who were previously aligned with Sim Fubara are seen at Nyesom Wike’s Villa, seemingly in a reconciliatory atmosphere. The elders, once advisers to Fubara, are captured singing the famous anthem, “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” signaling a shift in allegiance.
