The tragic incident involving SP Bako occurred during a confrontation between law enforcement personnel and suspected cultists at a camp in Odeimude community, Ahoada-East LGA.

In a statement personally signed by the governor, Fubara also declared Okpolowu and his gang as wanted individuals, attributing them to the recent surge in violent crimes such as kidnapping and terrorism within Ahoada-East LGA.

Governor Fubara shared, “On Friday, 8th September 2023, around 7.00 pm, I received a security briefing regarding the operations in Odiemudie Community within the Ahoada East Local Government Area, as well as the tragic murder of SP Bako Angbashim, the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer. This heinous act was perpetrated by a group of criminals who are currently evading capture.”

“SP Bako and his team fell into an ambush during their return from an operation and were attacked by these criminals. Tragically, he sustained fatal injuries in the ensuing firefight, was taken captive, and ultimately lost his life at the hands of his captors,” Governor Fubara added.
