Governor Siminalayi Fubari of Rivers State has called upon the state’s security agencies to track down the culprits responsible for the tragic killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the Ahaoda Police Division in Ahoada-East local government area. The late officer, Bako Angbashim, fell victim to the crime.

Governor Fubari specifically instructed the security agencies to apprehend the prime suspect, Gift Okpara Okpolowu, emphasizing that this action would send a resounding message that Rivers State is not a sanctuary for criminals.

Governor Fubari extended his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) and the bereaved family of the senior police officer. He pledged to make Rivers State an inhospitable environment for criminal activities.

Expressing confidence in the capabilities of the security agencies to apprehend the wrongdoers, he revealed that a reward had been offered for their capture.

Fubari stated, “It is truly regrettable that in our state, where we are diligently working to reduce crime rates, a group of delinquents is tarnishing the image of our state by depicting it as unsafe.

We deeply lament this incident. As a government, we are committed to bringing those responsible for this act to justice.

“We have demonstrated our commitment by offering a reward for the criminals’ capture and suspending the traditional ruler of the affected area. We will leave no stone unturned in resolving this matter; we are determined to apprehend the suspect at any cost.

“Rivers State has never been, and will not become, a haven for criminality. I have full confidence that the capable leaders of our state’s security agencies will do everything within their power to resolve this issue.”
