The Rivers State Police Command has verified that two individuals subjected to mob violence over an alleged car theft incident along Stadium Road, Elekahia in Port Harcourt, are presently in a state of coma.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed this development.

Iringe-Koko additionally revealed that the individuals in question are currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital whose location remains undisclosed in Port Harcourt.

According to her, personnel from the Elekahia Police Division promptly responded to a distress call and rescued a victim who had been assaulted by the suspected car thieves.

The suspects reportedly engaged in an attempt to hijack a Toyota Corolla vehicle from a Bolt cab driver during the early hours of Monday, resulting in the driver being stabbed.

Subsequently, the driver raised an alarm, prompting the intervention of a mob prior to the arrival of law enforcement officers.
