Rochas Okorocha F!res Back At Police, Denies Arrest Over Alleged Forgery
Former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has denied claims by the Nigerian Police that he was arrested in Abuja on Monday night and released on bail after about an hour of interrogation.
The police spokesperson, Aniete Iniedu, reportedly told Channels Television that Okorocha’s arrest was linked to allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
However, the former governor dismissed the report as false in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.
In the statement, titled “We’ve Been Vindicated. Falsehood Has Never Prevailed Over Truth. Truth Is Sacred,” Okorocha maintained that he was never arrested, granted bail or asked to make a statement to the police.
He also accused the Imo State Government of engaging in a political witch-hunt against him, insisting that there was no valid court order authorising his arrest.
Okorocha questioned the continued reference to a court order dated September 9, 2026, which he said was vacated by the same court on September 14, 2026.
According to him, the order could no longer serve as a basis for any action against him in October, having already been set aside by the court.
The former governor further criticised those circulating the arrest report, describing their claims as untrue and challenging them to provide evidence to support the allegation.
Okorocha, who governed Imo State from 2011 to 2019, also defended his record in office, saying he served the state to the best of his ability and remained prepared to stand by his achievements.
The police account and Okorocha’s denial present conflicting versions of the alleged incident, with the former governor insisting that the reported arrest and subsequent bail never occurred.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the controversy has renewed attention on the allegations against Okorocha, his dispute with the Imo State Government and the legal status of the court order cited in connection with the reported arrest.
