Royal Fury: Benue Monarch Storms Ugbaam, Orders Demolition Of Criminal Hideouts

The Tor Sankera, HRH Chief David Sev-Av, has visited the crisis-hit communities of Uyam and Ugbaam in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, as part of efforts to address the escalating wave of killings, kidnappings, and insecurity plaguing the region.

The monarch’s visit also covered other affected villages, including Tse-Afati, Tse-Ubur, Tse-Usaar, Tse-Abeke, Tse-Anyunuku, Tse-Gyembe, and Tse-Hwembe, where he called for unified community action to confront the security challenges.

Chief Sev-Av urged residents to fully support local security initiatives, stressing that safeguarding lives and protecting farmlands must be a collective responsibility. He praised Mr. Dan Zuru for his commendable role in coordinating grassroots security efforts.

Present at the meeting was Ukum LGA Chairman, Hon. Modi, who reiterated the government’s commitment to community safety. He promptly authorized the clearing of thick forest areas behind Tse-Ubur and Tse-Anyunuku—locations widely believed to serve as hideouts for criminal gangs operating in the region.

Speaking on behalf of the youth, community leader Bobo Ajaga described the forest as a “notorious operational base for criminals” wreaking havoc in Uyam, Ugbaam, Borikyo, and Shitile, and appealed for decisive government action.

Other notable attendees included Torsaa Orbunde, Mpuuga Ubur, elders, and youth leaders, who all pledged support for the monarch’s peace-building mission.

Chief Sev-Av encouraged displaced residents to return home and resume farming, assuring them of improved security. He also issued a firm warning to local youths involved in criminal activities to desist immediately or face consequences.
