Royal Tension Caught On Camera: Alaafin Refuses To Rise For Ooni Of Ife At Ibadan Gathering!
A viral video has emerged online showing a moment of apparent unease between the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The footage, recorded at an event hosted by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Ibadan on Tuesday, shows the Ooni of Ife making his entrance as several traditional rulers rose in acknowledgment.
However, in a move that caught many by surprise, the Alaafin of Oyo remained seated, opting not to offer the traditional standing salutation.
Despite this, the Ooni of Ife walked over to the Alaafin, exchanged a handshake, and shared a brief conversation before taking his seat.
In another development, Ezebunwo Ichemati, the ousted Chairman of Port Harcourt Local Government Area, has dismissed reports claiming that the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, knelt before his predecessor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to beg for forgiveness.
The reports alleged that Fubara visited Wike in Abuja as part of an ongoing reconciliation process brokered by two APC governors and a former Southwest governor, during which Fubara was said to have knelt and begged Wike to help restore his mandate.
However, in a statement released on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, Ichemati debunked the claims, stating that Governor Fubara remains confident, focused, and committed to Rivers State’s development—without needing to kneel to anyone.
He urged the public to ignore the misleading reports, labeling them as deliberate falsehoods meant to deceive.
