Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa Was A ‘Kindergarten’ When He Earned The Title ‘Mr. Projects’ In Ovia – A Testament To First-Timer ImpactA leading and frontline aspirant for the 2025 Ovia Federal Constituency by-elections, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, has stated that Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, was a first-timer and essentially a “kindergarten” in the Federal House of Representatives when he transformed Ovia Federal Constituency into a hub of development, delivering landmark projects across all 23 wards in the constituency.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This response comes in the wake of a misleading social media video and narratives suggesting that first-time representatives cannot replicate the achievements of the deputy governor in the ongoing search for a suitable replacement.

Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo strongly debunked claims that former members have automatic privileges or that prior tenure guarantees success. He described such assertions as fundamentally flawed, highlighting that the current Federal House of Representatives boasts numerous first-time members occupying critical leadership positions based on merit, not tenure.

For instance, Hon. Prince Odi Okojie, a first-timer, serves as Chairman of the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), showcasing that competence and capability are key criteria for appointments. Similarly, Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, holds the position of Chairman of the Committee on Banking Regulation. Ms. Suenu Ibori, another first-time member, chairs the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), while Hon. Marcus Onobun, a first-time PDP member, leads the House Committee on Rural Development and a major caucus in the National Assembly.

These examples clearly demonstrate that the Federal House of Representatives rewards emerging leaders for their potential and ability to deliver impactful results, regardless of prior experience.

Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo also reminded constituents that Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa himself was entrusted with significant responsibilities as a first-time representative, earning the position of Chairman of the House Committee on Legislative Compliance. In his second term, he was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Health Services, further underscoring the precedence of merit over tenure in such appointments.

He emphasized that the criteria for selecting the APC candidate for the upcoming by-election should prioritize party loyalty, exceptional performance at the unit and ward levels, competence, and grassroots mobilization. These attributes, according to him, are vital for ensuring continued progress in Ovia Federal Constituency.

In conclusion, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo urged party members and constituents to rise above misleading narratives designed to serve narrow personal ambitions. Instead, he called for a collective focus on supporting candidates who genuinely represent the values, aspirations, and developmental goals of the Ovia Federal Constituency.
