This clarification was contained in a statement released on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
The statement dismissed recent media reports claiming that JAMB had been scrapped or was no longer required for university admissions, describing such publications as “false, misleading, and unauthorized.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB remains the statutory and legally empowered body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” the minister stated.
He further emphasized that the current admission procedures through JAMB remain fully effective, urging the public to disregard any contrary information.
Alausa also appealed to students, parents, and educational institutions to rely only on official communication from the Ministry of Education and JAMB for credible updates on admission processes and education-related matters.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to transparency, merit, and fairness in the education system, the statement added: “There has been no change in JAMB’s established role, which remains central and indispensable within Nigeria’s tertiary education framework.”
