Russian President, Vladimir Putin during the Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, which was attended by several African heads of state and delegates which include Ramaphosa of South Africa, Paul Biya of Cameroon, and Kashim Shettima of Nigeria amongst others announced that the huge amount the continent is owing her has been cleared. Shettima, the vice president of Nigeria also used the opportunity to talk about how Russia can help Nigeria revive ALSON.
Nigeran human activist, Shehu Sani reacted to the trending reports of Russia clearing the $23bn debts of African nations via his Twitter handle.
He wrote; “Russia’s forgiveness of Africa’s $23 Billion debt is commendable.This is a challenge to the West.Russia is a true friend of Africa in the past and present.Despite this,Africa should remain categorically opposed to the invasion and annexation of parts of Ukraine.”

Olu tweeted; “I made this statement before commenting on your Tweet. Russia’s Govt is doing its best to save African countries more than the West. They’re not as greedy to be compared. It’s commendable. Again, African leaders need to caution with both mongers.”
