The Amadabo of Moko-Ama in Bayelsa State’s Akassa Kingdom, His Royal Highness Moses Theophilus Kenibara VII, has reportedly died at the age of 64 following alleged complications from a liposuction procedure.

The monarch ruled Moko-Ama in Sangana, Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. News of his reported death began circulating on social media around October 8 and 9, 2026, prompting tributes from people who remembered his contributions to traditional leadership, peacebuilding and community development.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Kenibara VII ascended the throne in 2016 and reportedly described his appointment as a divine calling.

Beyond his responsibilities as the traditional ruler of Moko-Ama, he served as chairman of the Akassa Clan Council of Chiefs, succeeding Chief Newton Igbani-Okuru. He also held the position of chairman of the Central Zone of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).

During his time as a traditional leader, Kenibara VII advocated peace, unity and cooperation among traditional rulers in the Akassa Kingdom. He also called for the establishment of a constitution to guide the activities of the clan council and strengthen its operations.

In August 2026, the monarch reportedly commended the Nigerian Navy for its efforts to combat criminal activities in the Akassa area. He expressed relief over security operations that had reportedly improved safety for residents.

His interventions in community affairs and security matters formed part of his broader efforts to promote stability and development within the kingdom.

The monarch’s reported death has sparked sadness among members of the Moko-Ama community and others familiar with his leadership, with tributes highlighting his role in traditional institutions and efforts to foster peaceful coexistence.

However, the circumstances surrounding his reported death, including the alleged link to complications from liposuction, would require confirmation from the family or relevant authorities.

His passing, if confirmed, would mark a significant loss for the Akassa Kingdom and the communities he served during his tenure as a traditional ruler.
