A tragic incident has been confirmed in Ilorin, as Usman Abubakar lost his life following a confrontation with a neighbor. According to reports, the neighbor, Omotosho Jimoh, is currently evading authorities, as stated by the police.

DSP Ejire Adeyemin, the spokesperson for the state police command, issued a statement on Tuesday in Ilorin, shedding light on the distressing occurrence. The incident, which took place on March 20, 2024, was brought to the attention of the authorities by Adebayo Ahmed, a resident of Isale Koko, Ojagboro, Ilorin, who reported the incident involving his son, Usman Abubakar.

It was recounted that on the same day, around 7:30 pm, Usman engaged in a physical altercation with Omotosho Jimoh of Elekoyangan Area, Oke-Suna, Ilorin, over a trivial matter. Regrettably, during the scuffle, Usman Abubakar collapsed and was swiftly taken to the hospital, where he was declared deceased by medical personnel.

Following the incident, law enforcement promptly visited the scene, conducting necessary investigations. However, the family of the deceased has declined to release the body for autopsy, opting for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Ejire noted that Omotosho Jimoh, the suspected assailant, remains at large. Nonetheless, the state police command has initiated preliminary inquiries into the matter, with ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspect and fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
