Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, has passed away at the age of 79. He was a distinguished journalist with experience at the old Daily Times of Nigeria and later served as the General Manager of Public Relations at Nigeria Airways. Initially installed as the Baale of Akinale in 2004 by former Governor Gbenga Daniel, he was elevated to the position of Oba in 2006 by the same administration.

According to reliable sources, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye had been unwell for some time and was receiving medical treatment at St. Thomas Hospital in London, where he eventually passed away on Wednesday afternoon. Just before his demise, he had completed his PhD in Law and was looking forward to his upcoming graduation in a few weeks.

In a statement, a source close to the late monarch confirmed, “Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye joined his ancestors @79 in a London hospital after a brief illness.”
