Ilorin witnessed an unprecedented wave of empowerment as Senator Saliu Mustapha, the distinguished representative of Kwara Central Senatorial District, launched a monumental intervention program that left thousands in awe. Tagged “Alubarika 1.0: Agricultural & Human Capital Development Empowerment Programme,” this initiative was not just another political event—it was a revolutionary push towards sustainable economic transformation.

The scale of the empowerment was jaw-dropping. Over 10,000 bags of fertilizers lined up for verified farmers, 50 brand-new tricycles(Keke), and over 20 cutting-edge tractors to modernize local farming. Essential infrastructure support included over 10 transformers to power communities and over 20 Sienna buses to enhance transportation. The market women were not left out—250 deep freezers to preserve perishables, heavy-duty industrial ovens, and cassava-processing machines to boost agribusiness.

For those looking to venture into livestock farming, over 100 cows were distributed, enabling beneficiaries to start or expand their businesses. Not to be outdone, traders and artisans were equipped with thousands of cooking stoves, pumping machines, and irrigation tools to strengthen food production and self-reliance. Even industrial sewing machines and motorcycles converted into trucks were provided to ease trade and logistics for farmers and business owners alike.

The sheer magnitude of this empowerment drew dignitaries from all over the country. The Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, was so impressed that he personally added 200 industrial sewing machines to the initiative, emphasizing the program’s massive impact. The Minister of Agriculture, Senator Abubakar Kyari, also lauded Senator Mustapha for his relentless commitment to food security and economic empowerment, aligning perfectly with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Senator Saliu Mustapha has continuously championed policies that enhance food security, empower farmers, and modernize agriculture across Nigeria. This empowerment initiative serves as a direct extension of his legislative focus, reinforcing his dedication to transforming Nigeria’s agricultural sector and creating wealth at the grassroots level.

By equipping local farmers with modern tools, irrigation systems, and mechanized equipment, he is bringing real, tangible solutions to age-old agricultural challenges, ensuring sustainable growth and national food security.

But beyond the sheer volume of resources distributed, the empowerment initiative had a sustainable blueprint. Unlike tokenistic handouts, every beneficiary had undergone thorough training—not just on how to use the provided equipment but on business management, financial literacy, and entrepreneurial strategies. This ensured that recipients were not just given tools but taught how to build wealth and sustain their businesses.

The selection process was strictly merit-based, cutting across farmers, traders, artisans, and young entrepreneurs without political bias. This impartial approach resulted in a massive turnout of beneficiaries and well-wishers, who flooded the venue in what could only be described as a human tsunami of hope and excitement.

With Ilorin standing still in admiration, one thing became clear: Saliu Mustapha is not just empowering people—he is revolutionizing economic development in Kwara Central and reinforcing Nigeria’s agricultural future!
