Sanwo-Olu Declares: “I’ll Keep Investing In Selfless Leaders Who Put Lagos First”

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his commitment to continuous investment in the people of Lagos, stressing that the state will always nurture leaders who rise above self-interest.

Sanwo-Olu made this pledge on Friday while serving as the Special Guest of Honour at the Graduation Ceremony of the 2024/2025 Cohort of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) and the Induction of the 2025/2026 Cohort in Ikeja.

He described the LJLA as a vital bridge between the aspirations of young people and the responsibilities of leadership, emphasizing that Lagos State would forever honour the enduring legacy of Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande, the late governor remembered for his vision, simplicity, and service.

“By enshrining the Academy into law, we have ensured that this bridge will never collapse,” Sanwo-Olu said. “With the signing of the LJLA Bill into law, we have sent a clear message: leadership development in Lagos State is not a fleeting idea; it is an enduring covenant.”

Addressing the graduating fellows, the governor encouraged them to embrace their new roles with courage, resilience, and vision.

“Your journey here has been one of growth and service. You entered with energy and are leaving with clearer eyes and stronger hearts,” he said. “Graduation is not the end—it is the trumpet call for greater responsibility. Lagos is waiting for you not just to occupy positions, but to elevate them.”
