The newly commissioned multi-storey administrative complex, named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was delivered by the council chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Olowa, as a replacement for the former facility destroyed during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.
Equipped with modern amenities such as an ICT centre, CCTV surveillance system, and solar-powered lighting, the building marks a significant step in upgrading grassroots infrastructure.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted the symbolic and practical value of the projects:
“These landmark developments represent our dedication to inclusive growth and responsive governance at the grassroots level. They exemplify the progress envisioned in our THEMES+ agenda and the resilience of the Ibeju-Lekki community.”
Sanwo-Olu also kicked off construction of Citrus Gardens, a housing development under a public-private partnership, and unveiled additional infrastructure plans. These include the expansion of Eleranigbe Road and the construction of a bridge connecting Sangotedo to the Lekki Airport corridor.
“Work has already begun on the Sangotedo Bridge over Omu Creek, which, upon completion, will improve connectivity and unlock access across this vital axis,” the governor stated.
Council Chairman Olowa described the secretariat as a game-changer for local administration:
“This is one of Nigeria’s most technologically advanced council complexes, featuring high-speed internet and smart facilities designed to enhance innovation and effective governance.”
He added that Citrus Gardens would catalyze economic growth in the area:
“With its paved roads, secure environment, indoor recreational facilities, and green spaces, this estate sets a new benchmark for sustainable living in Ibeju-Lekki.”
