Later that evening, Mrs. Nwaeke expressed her grave concern for her husband’s well-being, revealing that she had lost contact with him after he arrived in Abuja earlier in the day. In an emotional appeal, she expressed her fear for his life.

“When he got to Abuja, he called to let me know he’d landed. I said, ‘Thank God,’” she recounted. “The next thing I saw tonight: people started calling me, telling me he gave an interview. I was shocked. ‘What interview? Interview for what?’ I had no idea until I saw reports online that he had spoken. That wasn’t my husband. That wasn’t my husband.”

In her panic, Mrs. Nwaeke sent several messages to her husband, questioning whether he was under duress or had been kidnapped. “I sent him a message saying, ‘Are you under duress? Have they kidnapped you? Talk to me now. Why aren’t you answering me?’” she explained, her voice filled with distress.

Her desperate appeal became louder as she reached out to the public for help. “Oh, Jesus, help me. Nigerians, help me. My husband is in trouble. My husband is in trouble,” she cried, showing the messages she had sent him.

Reports indicate that Mrs. Nwaeke’s plea followed an exclusive interview granted by her husband, in which he accused Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of backing Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed for the 2027 presidential election. He also claimed that Governor Fubara had met with and encouraged militants to attack oil facilities and other state properties.

In another emotional video, Mrs. Nwaeke called on Governor Fubara to assist in finding her husband. “Governor, help me. My husband is in trouble,” she begged. “He is in trouble,” she repeated, adding that her husband had resigned under pressure.

She further alleged that her husband was being coerced into confessing to things he knew nothing about and that his resignation was a result of pressure to avoid further conflict. “He is being forced to confess to things he doesn’t know about. He resigned to prevent more trouble,” she said.
