Troops in Sokoto State have successfully eliminated a terrorist who was posing as a police officer, according to a statement released by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, on Thursday, March 21, 2024. This operation, conducted in collaboration with vigilantes, targeted a dangerous individual who had been using the guise of law enforcement to carry out nefarious activities.

The statement highlighted that the violent extremist, who met his end on March 20, 2024, frequently utilized disguises to deceive and abduct unsuspecting victims. The operation was initiated based on credible intelligence, leading to a confrontation with the suspect that culminated in his neutralization during a gun battle with the troops.

Additionally, the troops uncovered and demolished a residence being used as a clandestine facility by insurgent leaders to store drugs and provide medical treatment to wounded insurgents. In a separate operation against insurgency in Taraba State, another insurgent was neutralized in Kutoko Village, located in the Takum Local Government Area. This operation resulted in the seizure of an AK-47 Rifle and a Magazine containing four live rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition.
