Yahaya Abdullahi, a protester who spoke with Punch, reported that security agents used tear gas on the group. “Our people were just gathering when the police and other security forces began tear-gassing us and arresting some participants. We know of three arrests so far,” Abdullahi said.
This incident occurred shortly after Micheal Lenin, a leader of the #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja, was detained by the Department of State Services (DSS). Lenin was arrested around 2 am on Monday at his home in the Apo area of the capital, according to Naija News.
Damilare Adenola, Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, confirmed the arrest and alleged that Lenin was assaulted during the raid. “Lenin was arrested during a raid at his home at 2 am and was tortured in front of his family. We demand his immediate and unconditional release,” Adenola stated.
