Earlier this year, the Senate took a seven-week annual recess in July and was initially scheduled to resume on September 17. However, this was postponed to September 24, 2024.
Before the current break, the Senate confirmed all seven ministerial nominees proposed by President Bola Tinubu. This confirmation followed their screening on Wednesday. The nominees, who were submitted for expedited consideration, include:
•Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda
•Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi (Minister of Labour and Employment)
•Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu (Minister of State, Foreign Affairs)
•Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development)
•Idi Muktar Maiha (Minister of Livestock Development)
•Rt. Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata (Minister of State, Housing)
•Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad (Minister of State, Education)
President Tinubu had formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm these appointments in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during a plenary session last week.
