Senate Announces Start Date For Confirmation Hearings Of Tinubu’s MinistersThe Nigerian Senate is set to begin screening seven individuals nominated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ministerial positions next Tuesday. According to Naija News, the nominees awaiting Senate consideration and approval are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Labour and Employment), Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu (State Foreign Affairs), and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The list also includes Idi Mukhtar Maiha (Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (State Housing and Urban Development), and Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad (State Education). Notably, this marks the first occasion that portfolios are assigned to nominees prior to their screening.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Tinubu’s letter on Thursday, requesting the Senate to consider the nominees for screening and confirmation. In his letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to expedite the process.

Akpabio referred the request to the Committee of the Whole for swift action, stating, “Distinguished colleagues, the presidential request is referred to the committee of the whole for consideration very soon.”

A senior Senate member confirmed to ThisDay that the screening will commence next Tuesday. He noted, “Since the request arrived on the last day of the Senate’s sitting, we expect to start the screening on Tuesday and possibly conclude it by Wednesday next week, pending receipt of the required documents on the nominees.
