Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has selected Senator Osita Ngwu from Enugu West Senatorial District as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals. A statement issued by Ngwu’s media office on Tuesday commended Akpabio’s decision, highlighting Ngwu’s qualifications, competency, and capability to ensure the committees’ successful completion of their tasks.

Ngwu holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Enugu State University of Science and Technology (2001) and an M.Sc from the Business School at the University of Roehampton, London, UK (2016).

With memberships in professional bodies including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE), Nigerian Mechanical Engineers Association (MNMEA), and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Ngwu has garnered significant expertise in his 15-year career as a dedicated engineer in the oil and gas industry.

His career trajectory includes progression from a trainee engineer to an Executive Director, during which he accumulated substantial experience in the design, procurement, construction, and management of oil and gas infrastructures both offshore and onshore.
