Akpabio made this plea during a meeting with a delegation from the Ecological Project Office, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mallam Shehu Ibrahim.

The Permanent Secretary had expressed concerns about the inadequacy of the monthly N3 billion allocated to the agency, citing over 5,000 requests for urgent attention from disaster-affected communities nationwide.

In response, Akpabio urged prioritization of interventions, highlighting urgent issues like ocean surge in southern states and desert encroachment in the Lake Chad basin.

He pledged legislative support to enhance the agency’s effectiveness and emphasized the importance of advocating for tree planting to combat environmental challenges, urging every child to plant at least one tree annually.

Akpabio stressed the need for prompt action in addressing natural disasters.
