In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President responded to reports published in weekend newspapers regarding alleged plots to destabilize the Senate and its leadership.

Akpabio dismissed these reports as entirely fictitious and sometimes motivated by ill intent, with objectives that Senators are yet to fathom.

Eyiboh stated, “Recognizing that the Senate has moved beyond the phase of the closely contested leadership election, attempts to involve Senators who initially did not support the current leadership in a non-existent conspiracy are unjust and unfounded.”

“Senators are currently in the final stages of their recess, spending time in their respective constituencies and chosen locations after the demanding activities of inauguration, ministerial screenings, and other productive engagements,” Eyiboh explained.

“All Senators are taking this time to rejuvenate themselves in preparation for the upcoming resumption of activities. Therefore, insinuations that they are currently involved in subversive plots against the institution are unmerited.

It is particularly unfair to associate these Senators, who have now unanimously endorsed Senator Akpabio’s leadership, with unwarranted conspiracy through veiled insinuations.”

“We urge the media not to succumb to conspiratorial narratives and to avoid tarnishing the reputations they have painstakingly built over time.”
