Senator Abbo Unveils New Plan To President Tinubu Aimed At Cutting Fuel Prices In Half Former Senator Ishaku Abbo has announced that he has a viable solution to Nigeria’s ongoing fuel crisis, proposing a substantial cut in petrol prices. Abbo revealed that he recently submitted a detailed proposal to President Bola Tinubu, suggesting that with proper implementation, the price of petrol could be reduced to ₦480 per litre by 2025.

Speaking to journalists in Yola on Monday, Abbo explained that his plan offers a comprehensive approach to alleviate the burden on Nigerian citizens, who are currently paying over ₦1000 per litre of petrol amid rising living costs. He stated that his strategy could deliver significant relief within just five months if approved.

This announcement follows the recent collapse of the national grid, which left northern regions, including parts of Adamawa State, in darkness for nearly three weeks. Abbo also voiced his concerns about long-standing energy challenges in Adamawa, criticizing past state governments for failing to partner with the federal government to upgrade the Kiri dam in Shelleng LGA. He believes that converting the dam into an electricity-generating facility could provide at least 35MW of power, benefiting both Adamawa State and surrounding areas.

In his address, Abbo urged Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to prioritize infrastructure projects that address rural needs directly, rather than focusing solely on urban initiatives like building flyovers. “People are suffering and facing hunger daily, while crime is on the rise due to poverty and unemployment, especially among young people,” he remarked. “It breaks my heart to see families struggling to find food.
