Senator Ndume Sparks Controversy: Supports Death Penalty For N1 Trillion Corruption Offenders....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, contends that corruption in Nigerian politics is inherently different, citing that politicians engage in corrupt practices by sharing proceeds with the populace. Speaking on Channels TV Politics Today on May 14, Ndume discussed the death penalty’s suitability as a deterrent for drug offenses. He emphasized the disparity between corruption by politicians and others, deeming political corruption relatively minor. Ndume clarified, “Our corruption is people-driven. If you steal, you share with the people. If not, you won’t be re-elected.” Expressing conditional support for the death penalty in corruption cases, he advocated for its application to high-value thefts, suggesting, “Someone who steals one trillion should face capital punishment.” Ndume also endorsed the death penalty for drug offenses, asserting its efficacy in deterring drug-related crimes. His comments align with recent legislative actions, such as the Senate’s passage of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act (Amendment) Bill 2024, which prescribes death for drug traffickers.
