The document, titled “Guiding questions for Hon Members on security sector brief,” is expected to be used by the leader of the House, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, as he opens the session floor.

As per SaharaReporters, a reliable source within the National Assembly disclosed that the security brief was sent in advance of the session to prevent any potential “embarrassment” for both the lawmakers and the security chiefs during their interaction.

“These are reportedly exposés sent by service chiefs to the NASS so they won’t be embarrassed,” stated the source.

It is worth recalling that the House of Representatives had initially scheduled a sectorial debate with the security chiefs and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, last week Thursday to discuss the country’s security situation.

However, the security heads opted to send representatives, leading to the House rejecting them. Consequently, the session was postponed to the present day, with the House maintaining its insistence that the service chiefs must personally participate in the debate.
