Sh*ck In Edo! Governor Okpebholo Slams Suspension On Top Adviser Amid Tension

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has suspended his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Felix Osemwengie Isere, over allegations of unauthorized fundraising in the name of the state government.

The suspension was announced in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Monday.

According to the statement, Isere was suspended for allegedly soliciting funds using the name of the Edo State Government to organize an Oil and Gas Summit scheduled for Thursday, August 7, 2025, in Benin City—without proper authorization.

“The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of Mr. Felix Osemwengie Isere for unauthorized fundraising in connection with the proposed Oil and Gas Summit,” the SSG stated.

The government further announced that the planned summit has been suspended, and directed Isere to refund all funds collected from donors.

“The proposed Summit is hereby suspended, and Mr. Isere is instructed to return all monies collected from donors in relation to the event,” the statement continued.

In a final warning, the Edo State Government cautioned individuals and organizations to avoid engaging with the suspended aide.

“Prospective donors are strongly advised to refrain from any transactions or communications with the suspended appointee.”
