The Director of News at Arise Television, Sumner Sambo, has said the Federal Government and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) owe Nigerians an explanation regarding the handling of the case involving former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sambo made the remarks on Wednesday while appearing as a guest on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.

His comments followed reports that a London court had discharged and acquitted Alison-Madueke of all charges after an 11-year legal process.

While noting that the former minister’s acquittal affirmed her innocence, Sambo insisted that both the Federal Government and the anti-graft agency must clarify what transpired in the case.

He said, “The Federal Government and the EFCC owe Nigerians an explanation of what really happened.”

According to him, the case had previously been presented to the public with claims that assets and valuables were recovered in connection with the allegations.

“This is the same case in which the public was told that certain assets and valuables had been recovered,” he added.

Sambo stressed that the authorities must reconcile the earlier narrative with the court’s outcome and explain any discrepancies.

“They now need to clarify what has changed and why the outcome appears different,” he said.

He further stated that it was important for the agencies to explain whether all relevant facts were properly presented to the British authorities and why the final judgment differed from earlier expectations.
