The 27-year-old has not featured for England since their 3-0 friendly victory over the Ivory Coast in March 2022. He exited the squad during the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to personal reasons and was unavailable throughout Gareth Southgate’s time in charge.
Tuchel has included White in a 35-man squad for upcoming matches against the Uruguay national team and the Japan national team at Wembley Stadium on March 27 and 31.
He replaces Jarell Quansah, who pulled out with a thigh injury sustained at club level.
At Arsenal, White has had limited Premier League action this season, making just seven appearances, but he has been more involved in Europe, playing in eight of the club’s 10 UEFA Champions League matches as they progressed to the quarter-finals. He also started in Arsenal’s recent 2-0 EFL Cup Final loss to Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Harvey Barnes has been called up following an injury to Eberechi Eze, who suffered a lower leg issue that ruled him out of the cup final.
Barnes, a Newcastle United winger, has one senior England appearance, which came in a friendly against the Wales national team in 2020. He has been in strong form this season, scoring 14 goals across all competitions, and had previously been approached by Steve Clarke over a potential switch to represent Scotland through family connections.
