Olalekan, who lives in the Mosafueto area of Oke-Ata, is facing a two-count charge related to conspiracy and unlawfully attempting to terminate a pregnancy by supplying drugs.

The case follows the death of a female corps member, Victoria Ariyo, who served in Abeokuta South and reportedly died last Tuesday from pregnancy-related complications.

According to reports, the prosecution alleged that the defendant had a romantic relationship with the deceased, which led to the pregnancy and an attempt to end it.

During Monday’s court session, Olalekan pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lawrence Olu-Balogun, told the court that the alleged offences took place between January and March in the Ikereku area of Laderin, Abeokuta. He claimed the defendant conspired with others still at large and supplied drugs in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy.

The prosecution further alleged that the drugs administered contributed to Ariyo’s death, adding that the offences violate Sections 516 and 230 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Defence counsel, Mrs Bunmi Adelabu, requested bail on liberal terms, arguing that the charges do not directly prove that her client caused the victim’s death.

In her ruling, Magistrate Mrs A.K. Araba granted bail set at ₦500,000 with two sureties in the same amount. One surety must be a blood relative, while the other must be gainfully employed.

The court also required the sureties to provide a utility bill, swear an affidavit of means, submit six passport photographs, and show proof of 2026 tax payment to the Ogun State Government.

Despite the bail approval, the court ordered that Olalekan be remanded at the Ibara Correctional Centre until the bail conditions are fulfilled. The case has been adjourned to April 14 for further hearing.
