A Nigerian woman, Anthonia Umerah, has sparked heated debate with her bold advice to married women struggling with infertility. She suggested that if conception hasn’t occurred after many years, it may be worth exploring the possibility that the husband is the problem — and advised women to consider trying with another man, as female fertility is time-sensitive.

Her comments came in response to a Facebook post by another woman, Ifeyenwa Chybe, who revealed she became pregnant by someone else after 10 years of childlessness in her marriage to an unfaithful husband.

In her post, Anthonia wrote:

“If you’ve been trying to conceive for years without success, sometimes it’s worth trying with a different man. Your husband might be the reason it’s not working. Don’t let him deprive you of motherhood. Unlike men, women have a limited window of fertility. Take the chance while you still can — before menopause.”

She further added:

“Men cheat every day and society turns a blind eye, treating it as a norm. If sleeping with another man gives you the child you desire, then do what you must, sis. Men may not like this, but facts are facts.

“Always put yourself and your reproductive timeline first. If the roles were reversed, your husband wouldn’t hesitate to try with another woman. Men will always prioritize themselves — so should you.”
