Sh*cking Shake-Up: Felix Isere Booted Out As Okpebholo Unveils New Adviser

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Barrister Kasimu Otono as the new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas.

This follows the suspension of Felix Osemwengie Isere, the former Special Adviser, who was relieved of his duties over allegations of unauthorized fundraising using the name of the Edo State Government.

Isere reportedly solicited funds for an upcoming Oil and Gas Summit scheduled to take place in Benin City on Thursday, August 7, 2025—without official approval.

A statement released by the Edo State Government reads:

“The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Mr. Felix Osemwengie Isere, for unauthorized fundraising using the name of the state government.”

“Barr. Kasimu Otono is now appointed as the Special Adviser (Oil & Gas) to the Governor. He is a seasoned legal practitioner, real estate investor, philanthropist, and community organizer.”

Otono is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA). He serves as Senior Partner at Kay & Kay Legal, a firm with expertise in commercial, real estate, and oil & gas law.
