Sh*cking Truth! Why Obasanjo Never Liked Buhari – Garba Shehu Spills

Garba Shehu, former spokesman to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has alleged that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo harbored hatred towards his former boss.

Shehu made the claim while reacting to Obasanjo’s posthumous assessment of Buhari’s administration, in which Obasanjo described it as the worst civilian government in Nigeria’s history.

In an interview with Leadership, the former aide said he had already detailed the reasons behind Obasanjo’s dislike in his recent book, “According to the President: Lessons from a Presidential Spokesman’s Experience.”

According to him, despite their differences, Buhari always held Obasanjo in high regard. However, their relationship soured over an unmet demand.

In the book, Shehu alleged that Obasanjo asked Buhari to award the Mambilla Power Project contract to his preferred contractor. Buhari, he said, respectfully declined, insisting on handling the project through due process.

Shehu wrote: “There are many around Buhari who believe that the dramatic fallout between him and his senior in the military, whom he admired and respected, President Olusegun Obasanjo, was because of a demand reportedly made by Obasanjo. He had allegedly asked that the contract for the Mambilla Power Project be awarded to his chosen contractor. On this, Buhari politely told him to allow the matter to be handled his own way, in line with due process.”
