Sh*ckwave In Barracks: Army Fires Personnel Linked To Armed Robbery Gang

The Nigerian Army has officially dismissed Lance Corporal Samuel Emmanuel over his alleged involvement in an armed robbery. Reports indicate that Emmanuel was recently arrested in connection with the criminal act.

His dismissal was confirmed following a court martial conducted earlier this week at the 16 Brigade Garrison.

According to a military internal memorandum reportedly obtained by SaharaReporters, Lance Corporal Emmanuel, previously attached to the 16 Brigade, was found guilty after thorough investigations and formal military proceedings. He has since been discharged from service.

“The Nigerian Army enforces a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline and criminal activities,” the memo stated.
“All personnel are required to demonstrate the highest levels of conduct, professionalism, and integrity at all times.”

Following his dismissal, Emmanuel was handed over to the police for further legal action.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to ending insurgency across Nigeria. During a visit to the Headquarters Theatre Command Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri on Thursday, May 15, 2025, General Musa called on troops to intensify efforts in combating Boko Haram and other terrorist threats in the North-East.

A statement released on Friday by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, said the CDS assured troops that more resources and combat support would be deployed to the Theatre to strengthen ongoing operations.

During the visit, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of OPHK, thanked the CDS for his support, which he described as a testament to the high importance the military leadership places on the success of operations in the region.

Prior to the briefing, the CDS also visited the site of a recent explosion at Giwa Barracks, where he received a detailed report from Brigadier General Abdul-Razak Kazeem, Commander of the 47 Engineers Brigade.
