She Must Be Sacked Immediately!” – Aiyedatiwa Under Fire Over Explosive Budget Padding Scandal In Finance Ministry
The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised alarm over Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s silence regarding allegations of budget padding in the state’s 2025 Appropriation Act.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei, the PDP criticized the inclusion of controversial allocations within the office of the Commissioner for Finance. The party highlighted a staggering ₦11.5 billion allocated to the Ministry of Finance as a security vote, questioning its justification.
Additionally, the PDP described the allocation of ₦250 million for “Honorarium and Sitting Allowance” within the Ministry of Finance as excessive and unnecessary. The procurement of a Toyota Prado SUV for the Commissioner of Finance at the cost of ₦230 million was also labeled as highly insensitive, considering the economic realities faced by the people of Ondo State.
Peretei condemned the government’s lack of transparency, stating, “For the past two weeks, these scandalous budget items have sparked public outrage, yet Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration has maintained a deafening silence, raising suspicions of complicity.”
The party called for the immediate dismissal of Mrs. Isaac Omowunmi, the Commissioner for Finance, accusing her of abusing her office and betraying public trust. “Her claim of being a UK-trained accountant is irrelevant if her role results in the exploitation of the people’s treasury,” Peretei added.
The PDP warned that failure to address these concerns would force the party to take further actions to ensure accountability, stressing that the mismanagement of public funds will not be tolerated.
