Shehu Sani To Nigerians: ‘Forget State Creation, It Will Never Happen

Former senator, Shehu Sani, has urged Nigerians advocating for the creation of new states to abandon what he termed a futile and costly endeavor.

In a post shared on his official X handle on Friday, Sani encouraged citizens to prioritize peaceful coexistence over divisive demands.

He emphasized that state creation is a highly intricate constitutional process that goes far beyond a simple presidential declaration.

“Those pushing for new states are wasting their time and resources,” he wrote. “We must learn to live together peacefully. A look at the constitution will show how complicated the process is — it’s not something the President can just declare or announce.”

His comments come amid a growing wave of agitation across the country for the establishment of additional states.
