Sh*ck Move! Lawmaker Dumps Labour Party, Rejoins PDP Amid Political Tensions

Dennis Agbo, the lawmaker representing Igbo-Eze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the Labour Party (LP) and rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released on Wednesday, Agbo—popularly referred to as “Mr. Integrity”—cited the outstanding leadership of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, internal strife within the Labour Party, and strong appeals from his constituents as the reasons behind his decision.

He praised Governor Mbah’s governance since assuming office, stating, “The performance of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah, has been exceptional. I’ve had the opportunity to support his administration’s mission to transform the state.”

Agbo explained that the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party and the need to align politically with the state’s direction made his defection imperative.

“Out of respect for the wishes of the industrious people of Igbo-Eze North/Udenu, I am stepping down from the Labour Party and returning to the PDP,” he declared.

He emphasized that political alignment with Governor Mbah would foster better cooperation and developmental outcomes for his constituency and the state.

Agbo also disclosed that an official event to mark his return to the PDP will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the PDP State Secretariat in GRA, Enugu.

A former PDP lawmaker in the 8th National Assembly (2015–2019), Agbo secured re-election in 2023 under the Labour Party. However, the victory was challenged and partially nullified by a tribunal, prompting a rerun. Though his PDP opponent was momentarily declared winner, Agbo ultimately reclaimed his seat in 2024 following a successful legal challenge.
