Shocking Scenes! Obi Laments Devastation In Ebonyi As Fulani Herders Strike Again

Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, has strongly condemned the recent attacks on communities in Ebonyi State by suspected Fulani herders.

Obi described the violence in Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha, located in Nkalaha, Ishielu Local Government Area, as savage and deeply troubling.

In a statement released on Thursday, he urged security agencies to take decisive action against these criminal activities.

“I have just received distressing news about the heinous attacks on Amagu, Amaokwe, and Umunesha communities in Nkalaha, Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State. This ruthless invasion has claimed the lives of at least 15 innocent people, with many others still missing.

“This horrific event is not an isolated case but part of an alarming trend of violence engulfing our nation. The senseless destruction of lives and property is a gross violation of our shared humanity and poses a severe threat to the peace and stability of our country.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the grieving families and the entire Nkalaha community. Your pain is felt by all of us, serving as a stark reminder of the urgent need to prevent such tragedies from repeating.”

Obi called on security forces to act immediately and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.

“Our security agencies must act swiftly and decisively. The criminals behind this gruesome act must be brought to justice without delay. We cannot allow impunity to thrive. Protecting Nigerian lives is non-negotiable, and our security forces must safeguard every citizen, regardless of location or background,” he stated.

The former Anambra State governor also urged communities to remain alert and cooperate with law enforcement to curb the rise of criminality.

“I also appeal to community leaders, stakeholders, and citizens to stay vigilant and work closely with security agencies. We must stand together against these agents of chaos and collectively restore peace and security in our nation.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may we find the resilience to build a safer and more united Nigeria,” Obi concluded.
