Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced the promotion of over 32,000 officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Fire Service, and Nigerian Correctional Service within the past year under Tinubu’s administration.
This marks a significant achievement as it is the first time such promotions have been completed in the same year since the establishment of the Civil Defense, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Service Board in 1986.
Tunji-Ojo disclosed these milestones during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, highlighting the clearance of promotion backlogs and the implementation of allowances and life insurance packages for officers.
He also urged Nigerians to promptly collect over 97,000 printed passports currently awaiting pickup nationwide, emphasizing the ministry’s efforts to streamline passport issuance processes.
